Just Bag It! is a pollution source reduction program aimed at reducing the use of plastic bags.

Coordinated by the City of Hailey, the Just Bag It! program was generously funded by the US EPA and received sponsorship support from partners, including the Environmental Resource Center, Atkinson's Markets, Albertson's, Kings, the Hailey Chamber of Commerce, and the Hailey Farmer's Market.

Project activities include:

• producing and distributing cloth bags with partner logos,
• holding school poster and logo contests,
• a project blog,
• a YouTube video contest, and
• a public art project.

After reading contest rules and instructions, submit your video response to our promotional video on City of Hailey's YouTube Contest Site on or before March 30, 2010.

Prizes:

• Winners' videos will be presented at the public kick-off event, April 8
• Videos will be featured on the "Just Bag It" web page and ERC web site
• First Place video will be used as a spot on local TV during the month of April

• Competition begins: January 30, 2010
• Last day to submit entries: March 30, 2010
• Winners announced: April 2010

Just Bag It! Public Art Installation

This temporary public art installation is intended to engage the public in a different way than the other project elements.

Selection Process

A five-member selection panel will be comprised of one Hailey Arts
Commissioner, one Just Bag It! project team member, one Just Bag It!
project partner, one student and one Hailey City Council member.

Project Award

$500 (all-inclusive fee)

Project Schedule

• Proposals Due April 2, 2010
• Artist Selection April 15, 2010
• Project Installation June 18, 2010

Eligibility

Open to artists 18 years of age or older living full-time in Blaine
County.

How to Apply

Please submit the following items:

1. A sketch of your proposed design; used plastic bags must be the primary material.
2. A brief description of your proposed design, including a suggested project site.
3. An artist resume or bio.
4. No more than five digital images on CD of past work, along with an image list.
5. Self-addressed stamped envelope (unless you want materials kept on file).
